‏Sean van Leijenhorst‏

Seán René van Leijenhorst is a Netherlands/Czech Republic-based film director/writer. He was born in the Netherlands on the 21th of August, 1990. The first recollections of his love for storytelling are from when he wrote, directed and starred in a few stage plays in primary school based on various movies. His first filmmaking experience came in secondary school when he realized he could graduate in a few subjects by presenting the final papers in the form of comedic documentaries.

Immediately after secondary school Sean took an one-year filmmaking course at Open Studio in Amsterdam. Here he learned the basics of filmmaking and directing actors, and received a "Best Picture" award for his 1-minute graduation film.

He spent the next few years honing his craft and building his portfolio by writing and directing numerous of short films, and working on professional sets like Amsterdam Heavy and STUK in the production department.

In 2013 he decided to move to the Czech Republic to attend the two-year filmmaking MA program at the Prague Film School, specializing in Film Directing and Screenwriting. He closed off the first year by winning the award for "Best Director of 2013" for his short horror film "Banshee".

In 2015 he graduated from Prague Film School with his short horror film "Woods", a film heavily inspired by the works of Alfred Hitchcock and Stephen King. Sean continues his work in the horror genre and his love for the slow terror of the Hitchcockian school of suspense with a new short film titled 'Don't Turn Me Off'.
