Lara Vosburgh is a theatre/film/television actress and model, and graduate of the Atlantic Acting School. Vosburgh moved to New York after receiving a full merit based scholarship to attend the Atlantic Acting School Evening Conservatory.Lara's family originates from the US, Israel, Holland, Romania, Germany and Mexico. Although, Lara was born in Manhattan, she spent her childhood going back and forth between New York, San-Francisco and Tel-Aviv. Lara is fluent in English, Hebrew and proficient in Arabic including reading and writing. Her credits include: Lead in IFC's feature film 'Inner Demons' (currently on NETFLIX), Ann Deever in 'All My Sons' in NYC, Syrian-Kurdish refugee (role in Arabic) in the off Broadway play 'Undrown'd Seeking Assylum-(role in Arabic) in the Connelly theatre in NYC, British journalist in 'Undrown'd Seeking Assylum' and American Civil Rights protester in 'Undrown'd Seeking Assylum', Lead in Elaine May's dark comedy: "Hotline" in Tel-Aviv, a series regular on a 45 episode Israeli Drama and a recurring role in an Israeli sitcom and several short films and commercials. In addition, Lara has given linguistic and dramaturgical advice on the Arabic and various aspects of Middle Eastern culture on the the script of 'Undrown'd Seeking Assylum' in which she played a Syrian-Kurdish refugee In addition, she writes and appears in comedic skits, writes her own rap music, volunteers with youth at risk and is an advocate of cultural diplomacy.Lara is starring in the lead role of Carson in 'Inner Demons', an IFC feature film directed by Seth Grossman. The film premièred at the 2014 LA Film Festival. Lara's performance received rave reviews for mastering the complex and demanding role of a sixteen-year old girl, a former A-student, who is fighting addiction. Lara's breadth and skills are showcased in her superb portrayal of Carson's destructive and demonic possession pointing to an inquiry into the truth about her - a story straddling the disturbing intersection between insanity, addiction and true possession. 'Inner Demons' was released on NETFLIX and became 2nd most streamed film during its first week on the platform.Lara's star has been rising since attending the prestigious Bat Dor Dance Academy in Tel Aviv as a young girl, where she was tested by representatives of the Royal Academy of Dance in London. As a teenager, Lara was was an exceptionally brilliant student graduating on the deans list after attending Israel's leading preforming arts high school majoring in Dance, English and Arabic.Lara's first acting experience came at the age of sixteen, when Israel's leading music video director Shiri Shahar, chose Lara for the lead role in a video. This music video led to numerous offers for Lara to pursue an acting and modeling career. After two years of mandatory military service in the Israeli army, Lara modeled in Europe and Israel shooting catalogs, editorials and commercials.In 2010, Lara began taking acting classes with noted Israeli Oscar wining director and acting instructor Ram Nehari and after only three months of acting training landed a comedic recurring role on the second season of the Israeli multi-camera sitcom 'Kan Garim Bek'ef' ("Happily Residing Here"). Lara played Alex, an overbearing, over the top hormonal, rude teenage girl.Lara became a recognized star on Israeli streets and in Israeli schools, when she was cast as a regular in the third season of the forty-five chapter Israeli drama Hazuya, directed by Oded Lotan. The drama was televised in many countries worldwide.Lara has a strong comedic presence and performed as the lead in Elaine May's dark comedy Hotline which hit the Tel Aviv stages in July-August of 2014; she played a therapist working a suicide hotline trying to save lives. Lara is also talented in comedy improvisation and was part of the small yet vibrant Comedy- Improv community in Israel and also has been honing her writing skills with published author and Journalist Ilene Prusher.Lara has significant experience in the dance and singing world; she dances hip hop, classical and modern ballet, flamenco, belly dancing and tap dance. Lara preformed in the prestigious Suzanne Dellal Center for Dance and Theater in Tel Aviv and has recorded a solo song (ballad) as part of her role on the Israeli TV series 'HAZUYA'. Lara, who writes and composes her own rap, has recorded her first rap at the Cutting Room Recording Studio in NYC in August 2015.Lara is passionate about volunteering with youth at risk and about using the arts to empower them. Lara has volunteered as an assistant acting and cinema teacher to Director Ram Nehari at the Bnei Arazim Care Center for children with behavioural and emotional disorders. In addition, Lara has been volunteering as a summer counselor in a summer camp for children whose parents have Multiple Sclerosis in Israel. The summer camp is attended by youth that is: Arab-Christian, Arab-Muslim, Secular Jews and Orthodox Jews. Lara utilises her knowledge of Arabic to bridge between the Arabic speaking youth and the Hebrew speaking youth. In addition, Lara has been volunteering to assist the Israeli Multiple Sclerosis Society to create awareness to Chris Wright, the first NBA player with MS. Lara has approached and coordinated with Israeli Press interviews for the Society's staff on National Television to discuss the cause, conducted through research of Chris's career since his diagnosis, in an effort to clarify his insurance history and protect his status from Insurance companies, that have altered their policies with regards to his case and has been writing weekly posts for 'Do the Wright Thing' Facebook page, (which she initiated)- to raise awareness and garner public support for the cause.Lara is also an advocate of cultural diplomacy and has been developing a trilingual blog (English, Hebrew and Arabic) on Middle Eastern culture. She has recently opened a Facebook community: 'Artists & the Active Audience' encourages artists of all types (film/theatre/art/photography/music) and audiences to share how a piece of art/a book/ a sculpture changed how they felt about a certain topic, helped them through a rough patch, opened their eyes or gave them courage to change something within them selves or their communities.Lara started her undergraduate studies in Tel Aviv, University majoring in Theatre Studies & Islamic Studies and Arabic and has transferred to Yeshiva University's Stern College for Women in NYC. Lara opened at Yeshiva University the 'Arabic & the Rambam' club. In this club she teaches Arabic, Arab Traditional Culture and Arab Pop culture, similarities between Israeli and Arab culture, Judeo-Arabic, the Rabbi and Philosopher the Rambam (Maimonides) who wrote some of his most prominent works in Arabic and about how Muslims and Jews collaborated in 12th Century Spain. Lara also opened a Facebook page for the club: 'Arabic & the Rambam'. The page has posts of Arabic vocabulary with translations to English and Hebrew, quotes and teachings by the Rambam and posts on related subject.
