‏Gavin Kelly‏

Gavin Kelly is an A.S.C. honored, Emmy Award winning cinematographer who has shot a wide spectrum of narrative feature, television, documentary, commercial and music video projects around the world. Gavin's extensive background in visual arts, music, and film has helped him become a bold, dynamic filmmaker. He has photographed films which have been featured in many international festivals, including Sundance, Toronto, and SXSW.

Gavin shot the Academy Award winning film West Bank Story (2005), a striking musical-comedy take on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The film premiered at Sundance and has won numerous international festival awards and recognition.

Gavin's recent credits include the coming-of-age dramatic thriller LUV (2012), starring Common, Meagan Good, and Danny Glover, which premiered in competition in the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

Gavin also shot The Dry Land (2010), starring Ryan O'Nan, America Ferrera, Melissa Leo, Wilmer Valderrama and Jason Ritter. The film, following the struggles of a soldier returning from war, premiered in competition in the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

Gavin shot Kilimanjaro (2013), starring Brian Geraghty and Abigail Spencer, which recently premiered at SXSW, and 'Truck Stop' (2013), starring Juno Temple, Evan Peters, Ariel Winter and Christine Lahti which will premiere later this year.

Gavin shot the road-comedy-music-film Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best (2011), starring Ryan O'Nan, Michael Weston, Wilmer Valderrama, Jason Ritter, Arielle Kebbel, and Melissa Leo. The film premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.

In 2005 Gavin received the prestigious A.S.C. Heritage Award for Outstanding Cinematography, Honorable Mention, from the American Society of Cinematographers.

Gavin has been profiled in various trade publications, including International Cinematographer's Guild Magazine in the feature article 'Generation Next.'

While in undergraduate studies in Visual Arts at U.C.S.D., Gavin was awarded two Student Emmys for his films.

Gavin went on to receive an M.F.A. in film production at the University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television in 2004.

Gavin's other recent feature credits include Little Fish, Strange Pond (2009), starring Zach Galifianakis and Matthew Modine, and Play the Game (2009), starring Andy Griffith and Doris Roberts, and Wake (2009), starring Bijou Phillips and Danny Masterson.

Gavin has shot music videos for a variety of artists, including Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Matt Cardle, Haley Reinhart, Gemma Hayes, Against Me!, Emmy Rossum, and Serj Tankian (of System of a Down), Priscialla Ahn, for Warner Bros, Geffen, Interscope, Capitol, Reprise, Blue Note, and more.

Gavin has also shot commercials and promos for clients including Disney, Timer Warner, Maybelline, Avon, L'Oreal, Sally Hansen, Google, Walmart, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,and Invisible Children, as well as web series for Sony, Google Fox Atomic, Geek and Sundry, and more.
