Developing a diverse body of work infused with the urgency and kineticism of his earlier pursuits but now working within larger themes, the Director/DP helmed award-winning videos for such distinguished bands as Nirvana, Green Day, R.E.M., the Rolling Stones, Mazzy Star, Rise Against and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
A surf film for Quiksilver and the first of two movies on Insomniac Events' Electric Daisy Carnival launched a move into advertising and client-direct branded content, chiefly in the realms of music and action sports, where Kerslake created campaigns for Nike, Puma, Sprite, DC Shoes, VEVO, Coca-Cola and Sony Playstation, plus projects involving Doctors Without Borders, Insight Prison Project, Room to Read, the Red Hot Organization, Charity: Water, SurfAid, Action Sports Environmental Coalition, Homeboy Industries, PETA, Keep A Child Alive, and Amnesty International.
Longform work includes a number of iconic core culture films and documentaries, notably Nirvana: Live! Tonight! Sold Out!, Soundgarden's Louder Than Live and BadMotorVision; The Ramones: We're Outta Here!, The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience, and Bob Marley and the Wailers' Legend: Remixed for Hyundai and Universal Music Group, which won two CLIO Awards.
In the world of traditional film and television, Kerslake sold original screenplays to Ed Pressman, Millennium Films, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures and A Band Apart, and directed two episodes, including the pilot, for Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich's sci-fi series The Visitor starring John Corbett, along with a four hour mini-series for ABC Family starring Paul Wesley and Bryan Cranston entitled Fallen.
A protégé of legendary Beat photographer Robert Frank, for whom he shot several film projects, Kerslake's still portraits of David Bowie, Nick Cave, Sting, Neil Young, James Cameron, Peter Beard and Quentin Tarentino, among others, have been seen in a number of magazines and photography exhibits throughout the world.
As I AM: The Life and Time$ of DJ AM, Kerslake's most recent documentary on the legendary mash-up pioneer, will be in theaters in Spring 2016.
