After attending The New York Film Academy, John went on to work on hundreds of productions ranging from low budget Independent films to the largest Hollywood blockbusters. He worked for 15 years in the New York-based guild IATSE Local 52 before making his directorial debut.
In 2012, John released his first film, the award-winning World of Warcraft based documentary "Race to World First." The film has been viewed 3.2 million times in over 149 countries and garnered critical acclaim from both, gaming communities and film-goers. Race to World First won top honors in its various festival runs and to this day is the top performing documentary of its kind.
John followed that success with his next film "GameChangers: Dreams of Blizzcon." Produced by Hollywood legends, Peter Billingsley and Vince Vaughn. This highly acclaimed film brings the viewer back to the roots of esports and tells the story of two professional gamers and how they used esports to pull themselves out of poverty and become champions on the world stage. Gamechangers was nominated for the prestigious "Tempest" award and the film has gone on to win critical acclaim since its release.
On the heels of Gamechangers, John was selected to direct the ground-breaking Pyeongchang Olympics esports exhibition sponsored by Intel. The "sOs" piece is largely considered the best esports biographical short ever made.
He was then tapped to direct Blizzard Entertainment's famed "Signature Series." His work on this four-part series has been widely hailed as having set a new bar for documentary work in the gaming space.
