Emerging writer/actress, Crystal D. Garrett, has worked closely with major networks and studios, including having a one-hour television pilot optioned by Warner Bros. Television, and collaborated with many industry heavyweights. In addition, Crystal served as Head Writer for an independently financed sitcom. Garrett's latest venture is a feature length adaptation of the critically acclaimed bestselling novel Let The Church Say Amen. The project completed lensing in Atlanta and was produced by the Viacom /BET in and Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit Productions directed by Regina King and set to air in 2015. Garrett's sophomore film, Champ, is currently in development. Garrett's career in the arts and entertainment industry began in theatre. She made her Broadway debut in the principal role of CeCe in Play On!, which she originated at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, California under the direction of Sheldon Epps. She has performed lead roles in both classical and contemporary plays. Garrett has played opposite of John Goodman in Henry IV, worked directly with Stephen Sondheim in a principal role for a Sondheim's world premiere, which went on to Broadway, and has landed roles on HBO, Showtime, BET, Lifetime, and OWN. She completed her M.F.A through the prestigious Old Globe Theatre's Professional Actors Program as 1 of 7 students selected nationally, awarded a full academic scholarship, and chosen as a distinguished Old Globe Theatre Fellow. Garrett's awards include: 1st place Scriptapalooza for best sitcom spec, Writer's Digest top ten dramatic television writers, and first place for best sitcom for TV Writers. Garrett is originally from Seattle, WA.
