Stanze's first film was Savage Harvest (1994), which today has an enthusiastic cult following. But it was the wildly inventive fever-dream film Ice From The Sun (1999) that put him on the map as a standout filmmaker with a unique and always evolving approach. His fan base began to expand dramatically with the release of Stanze's intense, brutal, controversial, and critically-acclaimed film Scrapbook (1999) which was named Best Independent Film Of The Year by Rue Morgue Magazine.
Stanze was hired to direct 2nd Unit for two Jim Mickle films, Stake Land (2010) and We Are What We Are (2013). Both films went on to collect numerous film festival awards as well as remarkable acclaim from both critics and horror fans.
Eric Stanze is the editor of several Paramount Pictures behind-the-scenes documentaries, produced for the studios' Blu-ray releases.
From October of 2007 through April of 2014, Eric Stanze wrote professionally for FEARnet.com, at the time one of the biggest horror film websites in the world.
