From a very early age he knew he wanted to act. One of his passions as a child in the 70's was to tape record himself and his pals acting out little "plays" they had written accompanied with ingenious sound effects made from household items.
Schooling was not an enjoyable experience for the free spirited Rock, although he did well in Geology and went on to study it further at college.
At the age of 18 he moved to Mid Wales to begin training as an outdoor pursuits instructor. This was enjoyable seasonal work thak kept Rock fit and healthy. But because it was seasonal he had to find alternative employment in the winter months. Therefore Rock would return to the Midlands to work as a driver, and later a motorcycle instructor. Rock gained his LGV class 1 licence in 1993 which gave him better driving opportunities including delivering trucks and tractors on a low loader all across Europe.
In 1995 after a number of years teaching outdoor pursuits, Rock had the opportunity to act in a movie called "On Dangerous Ground" Starring Rob Lowe and directed by Lawrence Gordon Clark. This was a reward for taking the crew abseiling down the magnificent Lake Vyrnwy dam one evening. Rock was given a fight scene with Rob Lowe and became good friends with many of the cast and crew. Almost immediately he went on to act in "An Englishman Who Went Up a Hill and Came Down a Mountain", starring Hugh Grant. In retrospect Rock says he should have continued pursuing his acting career at that point but he instead continued teaching in Mid Wales. Some years later when his Mother became sick, he returned to the Midlands to help look after her. It was here that he met his future wife Amanda, a newly qualified nurse. In 2002, a year after his mother died, he and Amanda were married. In 2008 he became a father to a beautiful boy- Oliver George, also now a natural story teller and very talented singer who is following his Father into the wonderful world of theatre and film.
Rock always instinctively knew that he not only wanted to act but that he wanted his career to be that of a "professional" actor. He joined his local theatre where he was encouraged enormously. He was told by an experienced actor/ professional drama teacher that he "Naturally had it!". That was the catalyst that pushed Rock and made him more determined than ever to make a name for himself in the acting world.
He has now acted in a number of television programmes and in numerous TV and feature movies. His directing debut was a very succesful short movie called THE MAN ON THE DOORSTEP which Rock received an honourary mention award at the Los Angeles film awards in 2018.
Rock is a keen screenplay writer and has written and co- directed with Sean Cronin a feature film called ELEVEN which premiers on the 100th anniversary of Armistice day- November 11th 2018. Rock's first attempt at writing a screenplay was a movie called MISS HARPER & CO which was well received in LA and a production company took it on. Unfortunately, after almost two years, no significant movement was made and so Rock took it back in August 2018. He hopes to get this made in the Spring of 2019- filming in Spain. Rock has a significant slate of writing work ready to pitch at the appropriate times.
