‏Kariné Marwood‏

Kariné Marwood has had a passion for writing stories and movies since she was a child in her hometown of Thornhill, Ontario. Every Sunday morning, while her family slept, she would scoot to the TV room with a big bowl of cereal in hand and watch the Classics. It was her dream to become a writer/movie-maker, but her engineer-father encouraged her to pursue science over the arts. So off she went to university to do just that! Having received a Bachelor of Science (Hon) in computer science from Queen's University in Kingston, most of her career was spent in the corporate world as a product manager and marketing director in telecommunications and finance. Throughout her professional life, however, her love for writing and story-telling had not waned. It wasn't until she earned an M.B.A. that she decided to trade in her IT books for Final Draft and pursue screenwriting full time. She co-founded Skyword Productions and Entertainment Inc. and co-wrote her first Romantic Comedy, Baked Alaska, which placed first in the best Original Comedy/Romantic Comedy of the American Accolades competition, followed by Heaven Scent, an original screenplay that was later purchased by Hallmark and renamed Love Blossoms, which aired as a Valentine's Day Hallmark feature in 2017. Along with co-author Julie Kim, Kariné was commissioned to write Joseph and Mary (starring Kevin Sorbo and directed by Roger Christian). This writing team also developed and published the Percy children's book series, including Percy and the Perpetual Ooze and Percy and the Perpetual Prezzies, available on Amazon and Chapters/Indigo. Kariné and Julie wrote, directed and produced The Banana Chronicles, a short film that was purchased by Ouat Media, for which Kariné also composed the original musical score. Now represented by Doreen Holmes at Integral Artists, Kariné continues to develop original ideas, enjoying the ups and downs of the exciting world of film, but with a heart fulfilled for having realized a childhood dream.
