He was Co-Creator, Head of Story and Musical Sequence Director of Warner Bros. animated film "Cat's Don't Dance", which starred Scott Bakula and Hal Holbrook with original songs by Randy Newman and Natalie Cole. "Cats" won the Annie Award for Best Picture in 1997.
In 1998 and 1999 Rick received two Emmy Award nominations and won a Silver Angel Award for his work as a Producer and Director on Disney's animated series 101 Dalmatians, which starred April Winchell and Michael McKeon.
In 2001 Rick worked with Studio Chairman Roy E. Disney to Write and Direct Disney's Emmy Award-winning animated series, House Of Mouse, which featured James Woods and John Cleese. Rick subsequently earned a Golden Reel Award for his work on the Series. Rick was also a director on "Mickey's Magical Christmas" and "Mickey's House of Villains," two of the highest grossing Home Video releases of 2001.
Due to Rick's expertise with Disney's classic characters, in 2002, he was recruited by Walt Disney Imagineering to act as Creative Consultant on the 3-D computer animated musical featurette, "Mickey's Philharmagic". This unique attraction had its premier on the largest screen in the world at Disneyworld in 2003.
In 2005, Rick formed his own company, Scarab Productions, Inc., and soon partnered with The Zanuck Company. There he worked with legendary producing team Richard D. Zanuck and Dean Zanuck developing a number of feature film projects. These included "Goosetown", "Jesters", "The Amazing Henry", "The Rise and Fall of Arbogast J. Hogg" and "Little Ludwig".
Rick is currently (2013) Producing and Writing, Little Ludwig, a Beethoven themed rock opera, with The Zanuck Company, Johnny Depp's Infinitum Nihil and Warner Bros. Pictures.
