Cameo Wood is a San Francisco based director, screenwriter, and producer developing the sci-fi feature film The Atavist, a winner of the Gary Larson Grant. She wrote and directed the short film Real Artists which is currently featured on The Bureau, Labocine, Seed&Spark, iTunes, AmazonVideo, and GooglePlay and won 35 awards and enjoyed screenings at over 150 film festivals. She produced and co-directed episodes of The Alternative Guide to Secret Beijing which was featured on Atlas Obscura. Her first film, Dukha in Summer, premiered at the St. Louis Film International Film Festival and was nominated for best short at five others. Cameo is a member of Cinefemme, Women in Film, Alliance of Women Directors, Film Independant, WomenNMedia, and the co-founder of the SF chapter of Dinner with Dames. She was a speaker of the 2018 Camp Reel Stories' Girls Day Workshop. Cameo has completed Medical Neuroscience at Duke University, Futurism at Stanford University, and is currently studying Egyptology at University of Pennsylvania. She also has also enjoyed Masterclasses with Werner Herzog, Martin Scorsese, and Ron Howard. Cameo previously enjoyed a career in technology, working in voice over IP and computer security, before attending formal university. In 2008 she opened up the first urban beekeeping store in America, and has served on the board for a beekeeping non-profit since 2010.
