Early life: Andrea Savio, born Andria, was born in Manhattan, New York on February 27, 1963. She was raised in New Canaan, Connecticut where she lived in a glass house designed by her father Dino Savio, with inspirations from Frank Lloyd Wright. In fact her house was built right next to the famous Phillip Johnson original glass house, and when Savio was a little girl she would see the nuns walking all around the house, because it was converted into a convent. It was quite a unique childhood. Her childhood house today is valued at over five million dollars --and has increased in value because of its classic original design. She remembers mostly her artistic career beginning with piano lessons taken every day after school with surrealist artist and concert pianist Wilma Ervin. She is the daughter of Vicki Valley and Dino Savio. Her mother was a ballerina for The New York City Ballet and awarded best artist of the year from The Museum Of Modern Art in the early seventies. Her mother became a ballet teacher after her choreography days. Her father, also a modern artist, was an important industrial designer for IBM, Seth Thomas and Westinghouse. Together in theater her parents worked Off Broadway and her mother choreographed shows that went Off Broadway and went to summer stock, while her father designed the sets for the productions. Her grandmother Eleanor Kallman was an original Rockette in the ballet chore of The Ziegfeld Follies and danced with Fred Astaire in Bandwagon for one season as the lead actress. Andrea Savio has one brother, Christopher Savio-- and one sister, Laura Strobel.
Education: Andrea Savio (also credited as Andria Savio) graduated from High School in 1981 in Clearwater, Florida with some college credits in English. She was awarded a national award in 1980 in Florida for My Commitment to My Country for a speech she wrote for The Veterans of Foreign Wars. Her acting studies include studying with the Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting and Milton Katselas acting with the Beverly Hills Playhouse in the mid-eighties.
Career: Savio began her acting career in her early teens by starring in ingenue roles in community theater in Florida. She starred in Bus Stop playing Marilyn Monroe's famous part. She also starred in The Pleasure of His Company, Forty Karats and Lo and Behold. She was cast in her first movie Death Screams (aka House of Death), directed by David Nelson, in a leading role as "Kathy" at the age of 16. She was then cast as the lead in Stryker, a B movie directed by Cirio Santiago and filmed on location in the Philippines. Savio was also a backup singer for Rod Stewart. The relationship with Tony Curtis however made it impossible for Savio to stay in films, as they traveled frequently and he refused to let her audition anymore. Savio became a member of AFTRA for being on General Hospital, but television was never her ambition. It was always to be a movie star. Savio starred in a few commercials directed by her first director David Nelson, and one with Tony Curtis, and she modeled a while for international clothing companies in catalogs and print. Savio also helped her friend Lorraine and billionaire Bernie Cornfeld run a model and talent agency called The Max Agency, and helped as make up artist. Andria Savio lived at the Grayhall estate mansion.
Personal life: Andria Savio left Hollywood and returned to her home in Florida and decided to get married and raise a family. Savio has one child, a son, born in 1993. Politically she has been involved in the presidential campaigns of former Vice President Al Gore and Senator John Edwards, and she worked with the Democratic labor party helping former Space Shuttle astronaut Senator Bill Nelson of Florida. Since then she has remained an artist where she paints replicas of Monet, Renoir and Picasso, just to name a few-and occasionally paints original oils on canvas. Someday Savio intends on acting again in films, as this is her true passion in life.
